Brotato: Primal Dread Weapons — What's Confirmed

Reviewed: · Primal Dread Wiki editors

Primal Dread adds 17 weapons, but official sources don't list them all. Here's what's confirmed about Evolution and named examples.

Brotato: Primal Dread adds 17 new weapons, according to the official Steam store page. That same listing confirms 10 new characters, 40 new items, and a Jungle map with 20 waves of new enemies, elites, and bosses.

The official material does not publish a full weapon list with stats, rarities, or unlock conditions. So this page sticks to what the sources actually document instead of guessing the other entries.

Evolution is the DLC's weapon-facing system

The new Evolution stat is the main mechanic that touches your weapons. The official launch announcement describes two paths:

  • Mecha: You reinforce weapons with mecha parts and gain extra stats each time. Dismantling mecha weapons in the shop yields more parts. In return, mecha dinosaurs fire lasers and leave oil puddles that slow you down.
  • Mutation: You get a chance to multiply item effects by randomly copying them. Mutant dinosaurs spread acid hazards in exchange.

The announcement does not call either path universally stronger. Our Evolution overview covers the system, with separate pages on Mecha and Mutation.

Named weapons in the sources

Two weapons have dedicated pages here: the machine gun and the jousting lance.

Community gameplay also names several weapons. These are one player's observations, not developer data or a ranking:

  • Flutes (pan flute and others): luck-scaling weapons that appeared repeatedly in a Survivor run, where weapons come only from crates.
  • Spear: praised in a Caveman run for long melee range and crit/melee scaling; the creator treated it as the run's main damage source.
  • Chainsaw: noted for dealing a percentage of an enemy's current health as bonus damage. The creator says that bonus shrinks as enemy health drops, so it is strongest early in a fight.
  • Alien eye: described as hitting across the whole map and scaling with max HP.
  • Primitive weapons (hatchet, torch, rock, sharp tooth): relevant to the Caveman, who burns weapons to clear fog.

What the runs suggest about weapon choices

In the Survivor run, the creator takes "good enough" weapons from crates rather than holding out for a perfect one, because that character cannot buy weapons in shops. That crate-only rule is specific to the Survivor; it is not a general rule for other characters.
